SOUTH ASIAN ASSOCIATION FOR REGIONAL
COOPERATION
The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation
(SAARC) was established when its Charter was formally adopted on December
8, 1985 by the Heads of State or Government of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India,
Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
SAARC provides a platform for the peoples
of South Asia to work together in a spirit of friendship, trust and understanding.
It aims to accelerate the process of economic and social development in
Member States.
SAARC Chair, Fellowship and Scholarship Programmes tenable
in Bangladesh
Offers from Afghanistan
2 (two) Scholarships, one each in Dari and Pashto languages
Offers from Bangladesh
1 (one) SAARC Chair, 4 (four) Fellowships and 10 (ten) Scholarships
in the Universities in Bangladesh.
Offers from India
Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) has offered 1 (one)
Chair, 1 (one) Fellowship and 2 (two) Scholarships (on rotational
basis among Member States) for the year 2008-09.
Offers from Nepal
1 (one) Scholarship in MBBS and 1 (one) Scholarship in Masters in
Rural Development on the basis of rotation. (The Government of Nepal
has offered the scholarship in MBBS to Bhutan for the current academic
year and the nominee from Afghanistan has been selected to study
for the Masters in Rural Development.)

and Scholarships may be obtained from the SAARC Divisions of the
Ministries of Foreign/External Affairs of the Member States of SAARC.

SAARC Genderbase Launched
The SAARC Genderbase was lauched in New Delhi, India on 17 January 2008 by H.E. Chenkyab Dorji, the Secretary General of SAARC.
