Secretary-General of SAARC calls on Vice President of Nepal

 

The Secretary General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Mr. Amjad Hussian B. Sial, called on Rt. Hon. Vice President of Nepal, H.E Mr. Nanda Bahadur Pun, on 5 April 2018 and congratulated the Vice President on his unanimous re-election. He also added that this demonstrates the confidence the people of Nepal repose in his leadership. 

 

While thanking the Secretary General for his kind words, Vice President expressed confidence that with the long diplomatic experience of working as Director SAARC and serving in various Pakistan missions abroad, the Secretary General would add more dynamism to SAARC process during his tenure. The Vice President underlined the need for convening of the Nineteenth SAARC Summit in Pakistan as early as possible and assured that Nepal, as chair, has been putting in its efforts for creating a conducive environment through dialogue during bilateral meetings with the Member States. The Vice President emphasized the need to reinvigorate SAARC for the well-being of the peoples in the region.

 

The Secretary General of SAARC thanked the Government of Nepal for the leadership role as the chair and for the support given to the Secretariat and expressed hope that it will continue its support to the SAARC Headquarters. He underscored the importance of Summit in giving renewed impetus to the regional cooperation process. The Secretary General expressed his commitment to provide efficient and best possible services to the Member States and do his utmost in promoting the objectives of SAARC, which is the welfare of the people of the region. He also underscored the need for air, road and rail connectivity for regional and economic integration.

Secretary General of SAARC calls on Vice President of Nepal

 

The Secretary General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Mr. Amjad Hussian B. Sial, called on Rt. Hon. Vice President of Nepal, H.E Mr. Nanda Bahadur Pun on 22 November 2017 and extended an invitation to him to attend Thirty-third SAARC Charter Day Celebration Ceremony to be held on 8 December 2017. The Vice President had been pleased to accept the invitation.

 

During the meeting, Vice President appreciated the Secretary General for the energy and enthusiasm with which he is fulfilling his duties and expressed the hope that the SAARC process will gain momentum from his experience and able leadership.

 

                The Secretary General thanked the Vice President for the support he has received from the Government of Nepal and the Vice President since assuming of charge in March this year and expressed the hope that he will continue to receive full support of Government of Nepal in discharge of his duties.

Secretary General of SAARC calls on Vice President of Nepal

 

The Secretary General of SAARC, Mr. Amjad Hussain B. Sial paid a courtesy call on Rt. Hon. Nanda Bahadur Pun, Vice President of Nepal, on 15 March 2017 at the office of the Vice President.

 

The Secretary General thanked the Government of Nepal for its support in his appointment and a warm welcome extended to him since his arrival at Kathmandu. The Secretary General expressed the hope that Nepal as the current Chair of SAARC will play an active role to reinvigorate the SAARC process. Secretary General Sial informed the Vice President about upcoming SAARC meetings and requested Nepal’s full support.

 

Rt. Hon. Vice President Pun congratulated Mr. Sial on his appointment as the new SAARC Secretary General and wished that with his experience and knowledge SAARC will be able to function more vigorously. He added that Nepal as a founding member of SAARC will continue to play an important role in all SAARC related events and activities and he will advise the line ministries to re-schedule the pending events which Nepal was supposed to host and implement the agreements which his country has signed with more dedication. Rt. Hon. Vice President Pun expressed his hope for the early convening of the 19th SAARC Summit.
