My colleagues at the SAARC Secretariat and I are deeply saddened over the loss of life of many people and the damage of colossal property caused by the recent landslides in northeastern Afghanistan.

At these moments of immense grief, my colleagues and I would like to express to the Government and the people of Afghanistan our heartfelt sympathy. We would also like to take this opportunity to convey our deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved families.

On behalf of the officials of the SAARC Secretariat, I would like to take this opportunity also to present a voluntary contribution representing their half a day’s salary to the affected people.
